The Department of Energy Engineering of the SSS “Odesa Technical Professional College of the Odesa National Academy of Food Technologies” trains specialists at the “Bachelor” educational level in the field of knowledge 14 “Electrical Engineering” in specialty 142 “Energy Engineering”.
The department in its current form was established in November 2017 by order of the Director of the College. It should be noted, however, that bachelors in energy were trained at the College from 1996 to 2015 in close cooperation with the Department of Refrigeration Units and Air Conditioning of ONTU.
Energy and its related technologies occupy a key place in the modern world, and graduates of our department are in demand both in Ukraine and abroad.
The knowledge and practical skills acquired as students provide our graduates with a stable social position and the opportunity to realise themselves in the most diverse fields of activity.
Many of our graduates have built successful careers and established themselves as managers and specialists in various branches of industry.
The high quality of specialist training is achieved through:
- increasing the professionalism of the department’s teaching staff;
- developing the material and technical base;
- introducing innovative methods of organising the educational process and the latest educational technologies.
The head of the department is Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Director of the Ukrainian Branch of the International Academy of Refrigeration KHMELNIUK M.H.; all lecturers of the department have specialised basic education and extensive industrial experience. Most lecturers hold the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences. The department’s lecturers train students under the educational and professional programme “Air Conditioning and Ventilation Systems”.
Learning objectives of the educational programme: training specialists capable of calculating, designing, operating, manufacturing, installing, commissioning, repairing and modernising the equipment of air conditioning and ventilation systems and of introducing energy-efficient and energy-saving technologies in energy, industry, transport (land, sea and river, aviation), construction, and the municipal, household and agricultural sectors of the economy.
The educational and professional programme “Air Conditioning and Ventilation Systems” is aimed at students acquiring competences for successful professional activity in the field of energy engineering and is based on gaining knowledge of modern air conditioning and ventilation systems, refrigeration equipment and heat pumps that meet the requirements of energy and environmental efficiency and safety.
The department pays great attention to the preparation of textbooks, study guides and other modern methodological support, and students are taught specialised courses largely from textbooks prepared by the department’s lecturers.
The department runs the research club “Innovation and Research in the Field”, which brings together students who seek to master research skills. The result is students’ participation in research and practice conferences and the completion of real graduation projects as qualification works.
The department’s lecturers not only pass on their knowledge, skills and experience to future specialists but also motivate them towards their own professional development, self-improvement and lifelong learning.
