On 10 December 2024, the final stage of the “Best Locksmith – 24” competition took place at the Subject Committee for Specialised Refrigeration Courses among second-year students of study groups 2MKh-59 and 2KV-10. The competition was held after the completion of the corresponding placement in the training metalworking and mechanical workshop of the SSD “OTPC ONTU”.
The students demonstrated a high level of proficiency with locksmith's tools, in particular: vices, hacksaws, files, cold chisels, centre punches and vernier callipers. The main operations demonstrated by the competition participants included: marking out, chiselling and cutting of metal, filing of metal, turning of cylindrical surfaces, turning of external grooves, facing of shoulders and end faces, drilling, finishing the surfaces of parts to a given shape, and skills in working with lathes and drilling machines.
The students showed organisation, the ability to plan the stages of work and to make effective use of the available time to complete the tasks. The competition was an excellent opportunity for the participants to demonstrate their professional level and improve their practical skills.
