On 24 October, the Subject Committee for Specialised Refrigeration Courses held an educational event “Getting to Know the Profession” for first-year students of group 1MKh-61/1KV-13, specialty G4 Energy Production, specialisation G4.04 “Refrigeration and Climate Technologies”.
The meeting began with a quiz in which first-year students answered questions about the history and main operating principles of refrigeration units and the rules for the safe operation of equipment. This interactive format helped to create a friendly atmosphere, aroused interest and encouraged the students to take an active part in the event.
After the quiz, senior students shared their own experience and introduced the first-year students to the purpose of the main working tool used in installation work, the soldering of copper pipes and the charging of a system with refrigerant.
Special attention was paid to a demonstration of working with a manifold gauge set, during which the future specialists were shown the principles of using it to monitor pressure and to charge refrigeration systems.
The senior students then demonstrated the operations of joining copper pipes by soldering, explaining each stage of the process in detail.
After students of groups 4KV-09 and 4MKh-58 had demonstrated the technological operations, the first-year students were given the opportunity to perform some tasks themselves, using professional tools under the guidance of senior students, masters and lecturers. This practice helped the newcomers to feel like future specialists and to understand the importance of precision and responsibility when working with refrigeration tools and equipment.
The event was not only a good opportunity to get to know the future profession, but also helped to build friendly relations between senior and first-year students. Joint work, mutual support and a positive atmosphere created a sense of a single team united by one specialty.
