The student conference “Under the Banner of Freedom: We Are Ukraine” brought young people together around the main symbols of statehood

On 27 August 2025, on the occasion of Independence Day and the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine, lecturers of the Subject Committee for Computer Technologies and Software Engineering (A. A. Kryvchenko), together with the Subject Committee for Social Sciences and Humanities (Muravskyi O. V. and Dzhabrailov M. V.), held an educational hour in the format of a student conference “Under the Banner of Freedom: We Are Ukraine”.

The participants were students of groups 1KB-06, 1KS-62, 2KB-05, 2KS-61 and 2KG-11 of OTPC ONTU. Young people presented their own research, opinions and creative views on how the symbols of Ukraine – the language, the flag, the culture – live in the digital space, in the hearts of Ukrainians and on the front line.

Among the presentations:

- Maksym Shtrakhov: “The Flag on TikTok and at the Front: How Symbols Work in Real Life”

- Daniil Skubenych: “Ukraine on Instagram: How We Show Ourselves to the World”

- Yuliia Aniukhina: “Language Is Not Only Grammar: How Ukrainian Became a Trend”

- Oleksii Moiseiev: “Fans of Ukraine: How the World Supports Us with Memes, Art and Donations”

- Yurii Petrov: “Youth and Independence: What We Have Already Done and What We Can Change”

- Anna Dombrovska: “Ukraine of the 1990s vs the 2020s: What Has Changed and What Has Remained”

- Mykola Pichkur: “Symbols of Ukraine”

- Polina Khropchenko: “The Influence of Modern Youth on the Development of the Ukrainian Language and Culture”

- Denys Zlobin: “The Ukrainian Language as a Symbol of Unity and Independence: Identity, Culture, Future”

The event was attended by Deputy Director for Educational and Extracurricular Work T. H. Kopaihorodska, Head of the Subject Committee for Social Sciences and Humanities V. O. Myroshnychenko, Head of the Computer Systems Division K. H. Krasnokutska, as well as lecturers of the CT and SE Subject Committee Dzhabrailov D. V., Zalapin O. I. and Zhadan A. S.

The guests of the event noted the high level of preparation of the presentations, the relevance of the topics and the creativity of the students' performances. They were particularly impressed by young people's ability to combine deep ideas with modern formats of presentation – from memes to digital trends. The conference became a vivid example of how patriotism, critical thinking and creativity shape a new generation of Ukrainians.
