On 22 January, students of group 1RP-11, together with group tutor M. M. Burundukova, held an educational event for Ukraine’s Unity Day, which is an important contribution to preserving historical memory and the patriotic education of young people.
In his opening speech, student Oleksii Drach told the history of the observance, which is celebrated annually on 22 January in honour of the signing of the Act of Union between the Ukrainian People’s Republic (UPR) and the West Ukrainian People’s Republic (WUPR) in 1919. This event symbolised the unification of Ukrainian lands into a single state. This day also commemorates the anniversary of the proclamation of the UPR’s independence in 1918. The observance is a reminder of the importance of unity, state sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The students prepared photo and video materials about the signing of the Act of Union, a presentation on the events of 1918–1919, and a thematic wall newspaper. After viewing the materials, the students actively expressed their own views on preserving national identity.
The students came together, joining hands, symbolising the unity of the Ukrainian people and a call to all young people to preserve historical memory and support the idea of unity.
Such events help students realise the importance of national unity and foster a sense of pride in their country.
