On 16 May 2025, lecturer of the Subject Committee for Social Sciences and Humanities Spirzhenko R.I. and lecturer of the Subject Committee for Computer Technologies and Software Engineering Kryvchenko A.A. held a fascinating and intellectually rich quiz, “GeoIT”, for students of group 1KS-61.
The aim of the event was to show the importance of an interdisciplinary approach – how knowledge of geography can be successfully combined with information technology. The participants answered questions related to geolocation services, GIS (geographic information systems), digital mapping and the use of satellite data in modern IT projects.
The interactive tasks aroused particular interest: determining the coordinates of objects using digital maps, analysing satellite images, and quest questions.
Holding such events helps develop spatial thinking, broadens students' horizons and demonstrates how geographic knowledge can be applied in such fields as web development, mobile applications, transport logistics, agro-information systems and even the gaming industry.
The combination of humanities and technical knowledge opens up broad opportunities for future IT specialists.
