On 10 October 2025, lecturers of the Subject Committee for Social Sciences and Humanities Raisa Spirzhenko, Viktor Myroshnychenko, Larysa Borovyk and Maksym Khrulov held an educational event among first- and second-year students, dedicated to the anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy.
The mass shooting of Jews at Babyn Yar on 29–30 September 1941 became a symbol of the “Holocaust by bullets” and of the Nazi policy of mass extermination of people. The shootings at the ravine began immediately after the Nazis and their allies entered Kyiv in September 1941 and took place almost daily until the end of the city's occupation.
The most tragic days were 29–30 September, when almost 34,000 Jews – residents of Kyiv – were killed. In German reports, this operation was called the “Grossaktion” (“great action”, from German Großaktion).
College students prepared a large number of wall newspapers and gave a considerable number of presentations. Among the most interesting were the reports by students of groups 1 OB-08, 1 FB-06, 2IM-07, 2 OB-07/FB-05, 1 IM-08, as well as groups 1 MK-25 and 1 MI-06.
At the end of the event, lecturer Raisa Spirzhenko stressed that Babyn Yar is clear evidence of the brutality of which regimes headed by leaders who rely on intimidation and violence are capable. In any era they are no different. But the world's reaction must be different. This is what the world should have learned. We must stand guard over humanity, life and justice.
