The Subject Committee for Physics and Mathematics trains specialists at the educational and qualification level of junior specialist in all specialties.

At present, the Subject Committee for Physics and Mathematics has 10 lecturers, of whom:

  • permanent staff – 10
  • Candidates of Sciences – 1
  • lecturers of the highest category – 8
  • lecturers-methodologists – 2
  • lecturers of the first category – 1
  • lecturers of the second category – 1

The main task of the Subject Committee for Physics and Mathematics is to raise the level of training in physics and mathematics of future specialists at the educational and qualification level of junior specialist. The committee can accomplish this task in the course of its educational activity through the following measures:

  • shaping the personality of a professional specialist who is aware of belonging to modern European civilisation, has a clear grasp of current realities and prospects of socio-cultural dynamics, and is prepared for life and work in the 21st century;
  • ensuring the training of specialists in accordance with state educational and qualification programmes using innovative information technologies;
  • intensifying the use in the educational process of modern achievements of science, information technologies and software, and the latest educational and methodological literature;
  • work on the adaptation of students by improving their mathematical training, which provides the foundation for their chosen specialty
  • work with gifted students, development of their intellect and interest, participation in olympiads in mathematics, physics and informatics
  • improving the quality of educational and methodological manuals prepared by the teaching staff of the committee.
  • developing educational and methodological literature for students' independent extracurricular work using virtual training e-learning technologies.
  • ensuring objective assessment of students' knowledge through the use of modern forms of control and diagnostics of the real level of academic work, and implementing the function of motivating students towards fruitful, systematic work and, on this basis, achieving a higher quality of knowledge.
  • improving the quality of teaching of mathematical subjects by increasing the individualisation of learning, introducing the latest technologies, including active information and telecommunication technologies, interactive forms and methods of teaching, and expanding and modernising electronic information resources, computer equipment and software, and other technical teaching aids.
  • improving the qualitative composition of the committee's teaching staff through postgraduate study and the defence of dissertations. To strengthen the mathematical knowledge of first-year students, entrance testing in mathematics, physics and informatics is carried out together with its full analysis, which makes it possible to ensure a differentiated approach to teaching and to develop individual assignments for students with different levels of preparation.

To integrate the educational process, problem-situation tasks developed by the specialised committees are used as a basis for adaptation to the relevant mathematical apparatus, with subsequent use in the educational process.

Methodological support for mathematical subjects is created and constantly updated in line with the educational and methodological complexes of each course.

The scientific and methodological support of the teaching and educational process is promoted by meetings of the subject committee, at which theoretical issues of studying new pedagogical ideas and technologies are considered, as well as the theoretical principles of organising students' research, exploratory and creative work in the course of studying the physical and mathematical sciences.

The lecturers of the Subject Committee for Physics and Mathematics pay great attention to organising extracurricular work as one of the most effective means of awakening and sustaining students' interest in mathematics-related subjects. Extracurricular work promotes the development of students' mathematical culture, thinking, spatial imagination and memory. Extracurricular work also plays a significant role in helping students acquire organisational skills, initiative and independence; it fosters perseverance in overcoming obstacles and develops communication skills, mental activity, and the need for self-education and creativity. The forms of extracurricular work are diverse: clubs and optional courses, olympiads, themed evenings and intellectual games.

The facilities of the Subject Committee for Physics and Mathematics consist of four mathematics classrooms, two physics classrooms and three classrooms for informatics and programming. All classrooms are equipped with modern teaching aids, instruments, multimedia and computer equipment, which makes it possible to teach at a modern level.
